Enjoy Westport Rockfish and Lingcod Fishing at its Finest on the Tequila Too! |
|
We spent the first 14 years with the first Tequila specializing in Rockfish and Lingcod seven days a week when everyone else was Salmon fishing so we have had as much or more time Charter Bottomfishing than anyone in Westport if practice means anything! We invite you to join us on the Tequila Too for a Bottomfishing trip leaving at 7:00 AM. It will usually take us 1-2 hours to run to the fishing grounds. We will start the day fishing for Rockfish with a daily limit of 10 ! If they are really biting or come to the top you can catch your limit of 10 in less than an hour! After Rockfish limits are caught we will spend the rest of the day fishing for Lingcod. These voracious toothy critters are the Trophy of the day. Catch the BigUn and win the Derby! You usually return to the dock between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. Bottom Fishin Trips are great trips for everyone of all ages, including kids ready to try Ocean Sport Fishing for their first time. We will be happy to show you how to catch the BigUn's. There is always a lot of action, and the tender white fillets are preferred by many to Salmon. Don't forget your Deckhands after this full day of fishing. They work for tips and will fillet your catch for a small fee. Bottom Fishin trips run from March thru October. We hope to see you this year for some exciting Rockfish and Lingcod fishing action. Handheld GPS policy: Please ask permission before bringing a handheld GPS on board bottomfishing as we would rather refund you than loose a good spot. How we fish on the Tequila Too and Light Tackle: Our goal is to usually fish for our Rockfish Boat Limit first and as fast as possible so we can have the maximum amount of time left for Lingcod Fishing. Our main goal is to come home with the most and largest Lingcod we can on every Bottomfishing Trip. Although we will go Lingcod fishin first sometimes at our discretion, we usually try to limit on Rockfish first because even in the best of Lingcod fishing someone may not catch one, and if the Lings are not biting it may be to late to limit on Rockfish. We expect your cooperation fishing for Rockfish so we all can go Lingcod fishing. If everyone hugs the bottom while fishing for Rockfish and expects the other people on the boat to catch their Rockfish for them, we may end up with a couple Lings instead of the 30 or 40 we may have had with full cooperation. If the Rockfish are on top, just 1 or 2 people going to deep can put the school down and off the bite so we expect your cooperation please. We encourage you to bring your own light tackle, it is great fun when the current is down and the Rockfish are up. We are not gearing where we fish to light tackle as our primary goal is Lingcod fishing later, and we may be fishing 300' if that is where we can get the biggest Rockfish the fastest, or it is closer to where the Lings are biting. Jigs work well if the Rockfish are very hungry However we are usually looking for fish that want to bite bait not jigs so be prepared to switch over quick to catch your share if your Jig doesn't catch. Please don't bring Spider Wire or Tuff Line or other braided line for Rockfish as it cuts off other peoples fish and the tangles are near impossible to undo when a fish is involved. 80 Lb Spider Wire or Tuff Line or other braided line is great for working Lingcod jigs while we are targeting Lings, please plan on fishing the bow so you don't interfere with the other lines. Your own Lingcod jigs from 12-24 oz will work well on this line, be prepared to loose some though as good Lingcod spots can be snaggy. Sometimes Lings like Jigs best although bait is more consistent. Rod rental is included in the price if you feel your gear is insufficient. Marking your rod holder or spot: You may mark your fishing spot on the boat the afternoon before your trip or in the morning subject to the following conditions. The Deckhand or Skipper must be present. Please ask permission and do not get aboard or mark spots when the Gate is shut or crew are not present. The crew knows which spots we will be fishing in to be the most efficient and avoid tangles depending on the size of group. People fishing for more than one day may already have claim to a spot whether it is marked yet or not. We may ask you to move slightly to accommodate persons of disability or to keep families together. Bottom Fishing trips run into October. Don't miss out on this non-stop action. Call now for your reservations, and be sure to ask for the Tequila Too!
